Types of Massages
- SWEDISH MASSAGE (Tension releasing treatment) is one of the most common or known as the “Classic Massage” that is widely practiced techniques in the Western world. Swedish massage is a gentle technique using lengthy strokes, kneading, deep circular motions, vibration, and tapping. It has a calming and energizing effect. Unlike traditional Swedish massage, which treats everyone, sports massage targets athletes and their specific needs.
- DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE (Targets deep layers of muscle and surrounding tissues) is a deeper, more intense massage. This technique uses slow, deep guided strokes and firm pressuredesigned to relieve severe tension and reach below the superficial muscles. Deep Tissue Massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain and soreness in both large and small muscle groups.
- NEUROMUSCULAR MASSAGE (is a highly-specialized and extremely focused treatment method), and focuses on areas of muscle spasm to relieve chronic stiffness and pain. It is mainly used to fix trigger points, circulation, nerve compression, postural problems and repetitive movement injuries.
- PRENATAL MASSAGE (is a full body massage similar to a Swedish massage) except for a few modifications with body positioning that can ensure the safety and comfort for both mother and baby. Therapeutic massage has been used for centuries to improve overall health, reduce stress, and relieve muscle tension. Prenatal massage therapy can help reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.
- ONCOLOGY MASSAGE (is a very specialized massage treatment to help your mind, body and spirit during cancer treatments). Oncology massage uses light touch and slow, steady movements, working with the central nervous system to help the body relax. Benefits include improved relaxation, sleep, and immune function as well as relieving anxiety, pain, fatigue and nausea.
- REIKI MASSAGE is based on an Eastern belief that vital energy flows through your body, uses gentle touch – or places their hands just above your body – to help guide this energy in a way that leads to balance and healing and where there has been physical injury or even emotional pain.
- POST NATAL MASSAGE has countless benefits after you give birth, including helping to regulate your hormones, increasing milk production, reducing swelling, reduced anxiety and depression and helps with better sleep. Postpartum massage is a full body massage that occurs within the first 12 weeks after you give birth to your baby. If you have had a cesarean delivery, talk to both your doctor and massage therapist to be sure it is safe. If you’ve had blood clots in your pregnancy or previously, your doctor will likely have already recommended you avoid massage. Check with your doctor when it is safe to resume massage.
